Any tips on how to start a blog/website such as your seecreatures blog?
I always make these super long, especially since I’m a web designer by trade (and a blogger for over ten years), so I’m gonna try and pare this down as much as possible:
- Post original content, not just polyvore sets and wishlists. Nothing wrong with these things, but your blog will really stand out if you post your own writing or photos
- Post frequently, make a habit of blogging (something I’m really bad at…)
- Having a good camera helps; it doesn’t have to be a DSLR either (I started blogging with a film SLR and a film fisheye)
- Build relationships with other people online, whether they are “internet famous” or not, whether they are bloggers or not. Just be genuine; some of the people I’ve met online are some of my best friends, and they are the ones who keep me blogging when I’m not getting very many hits. You can do this via commenting on others’ blogs, following them on Twitter, or following them on Tumblr
- Carry a small notebook with you so you can write down post ideas throughout the day.
- A professional layout isn’t necessary at all, but one with harmonic colors that’s easy-to-read is, imo, likely not to scare people away. No autostart songs either!!!!!!
